Over 50,000 Killed, Aid Blocked, Children at Greatest Risk – Human Care International Urges Immediate Global Acti
Gaza Strip – Human Care International is gravely alarmed by the latest Humanitarian Situation Update released by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) on April 4, 2025. The report, available at www.unocha.org, reveals staggering levels of human suffering in Gaza.
Since October 2023, over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 114,000 injured. Just in the last two weeks, 280,000 people were newly displaced, with 65% of Gaza’s territory now designated as no-go zones or under active evacuation orders. Humanitarian access is being systematically denied — 60% of coordinated aid missions were blocked, and aid workers are facing life-threatening risks.
Food insecurity is reaching catastrophic levels. All
25 subsidized bakeries have ceased operations, and over 89,000 metric tonnes of food remain stuck outside Gaza. The price of essential items like flour has surged by 450%, and cooking gas by 4,000%, pushing families to burn waste to cook and survive.
Children are suffering most. Nearly 88.5% of Gaza’s schools have been damaged or destroyed, stripping education from over half a million students. Trauma, displacement, and the collapse of protection systems are putting countless children at risk of exploitation and lifelong psychological harm. Since the conflict began, 409 aid workers, including 291 UN staff, have been killed.
Gaza Cannot Wait
This is not just a humanitarian crisis — it is a crisis of humanity. We call on the international community to demand an immediate ceasefire, guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access, and uphold international law protections for civilians and aid workers. Support is urgently needed. Donate to trusted humanitarian organizations. Speak out. Share the truth. Gaza cannot endure another day of silence.
